Health insurance plans in Davidson County, Tennessee (2026)

I pulled every 2026 marketplace plan sold in Davidson County, Tennessee out of the official CMS plan file. There are 65 plans from five carriers, and a 40 year old in Davidson pays $752 a month at full price for the benchmark silver plan. That is $98 more than in Shelby County, the other Tennessee county I track. Across all 79 counties and parishes I track in 24 states, only nine have a higher benchmark. Cigna also sells in Davidson now and is leaving for 2027, so some of your neighbors have to switch plans this fall. Below are the carriers, the plan counts, the full prices before subsidy, and what I think the numbers mean if you live in Nashville, Antioch, Hermitage, Goodlettsville or anywhere else in the county.

Who sells marketplace plans in Davidson County

Davidson County and Shelby County, the two Tennessee counties I track, have the same number of carriers, five each. Across all 79 counties and parishes I track in 24 states, 30 have more carriers than Davidson. The biggest lineup in Davidson belongs to Ambetter of Tennessee with 16 plans, about 25 percent of everything on offer.

Leaving Davidson County for 2027

Cigna sells 10 of the 65 plans in Davidson County this year. Cigna is leaving the ACA individual market in every state where it sells, on and off exchange, for 2027. After that exit, four carriers are left from the 2026 Davidson lineup: Ambetter of Tennessee, Oscar, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and UnitedHealthcare. If you are enrolled with Cigna in Davidson, you will get a notice this fall. If you do nothing you are moved to a replacement plan picked on price and metal level, and nothing in that process checks your doctors or prescriptions.

What it costs in Davidson County before any subsidy

These are the full monthly prices, before any premium tax credit, for the cheapest Davidson plan at each metal level. I show the sticker price because it is what your subsidy is subtracted from, and most people who enroll in Davidson pay less, often a lot less.

Monthly premium, full priceAge 21Age 40Age 60Couple, both 40Couple 40 + 2 kids
Lowest bronze$427$546$1,159$1,092$1,746

Benchmark silver (second lowest)$589$752$1,598$1,505$2,406
Lowest gold$564$721$1,530$1,441$2,304

Benchmark silver is the second lowest of the 24 silver premiums listed for Davidson. The last column is two adults aged 40 plus two children.

What these numbers mean if you live in Davidson County

The gold row is the surprise in Davidson County. The cheapest gold plan for a 40 year old, $721 a month, is $30 cheaper than the cheapest silver plan at $751. That happens because Tennessee carriers load the cost of the extra silver discounts into silver premiums. If your income is too high for those discounts, silver is the worst value on the Davidson shelf, and a gold deductible here tops out at $2,000.

In Davidson County the benchmark is $207 above the cheapest bronze at age 40, and 25 of the other 78 counties and parishes I track have a wider one. That gap decides whether bronze can be free, because your subsidy is the $752 benchmark minus what the government expects you to pay from your income. A 40 year old in Davidson whose expected share is $207 a month or less would pay nothing for the cheapest bronze. At 60 the Davidson gap grows to $439 and at 21 it shrinks to $162, which is why older enrollees are the ones most likely to find a $0 plan.

Shelby County, around Memphis, is the other Tennessee county I track. Compared with Shelby County, the Davidson benchmark is $98 higher at 40 and the cheapest bronze is $80 higher. The same five carriers sell in both, so moving between Davidson and Shelby changes the price you pay but not the companies you can pick from.

There is not a single PPO on the 2026 marketplace in Davidson County. All 65 plans are EPO plans. Outside emergencies, the 65 EPO plans in Davidson generally pay nothing out of network, so the network list matters more than the premium. 10 plans in Davidson have a $0 medical deductible (6 expanded bronze, 3 gold and 1 silver). The 6 bronze ones among them still have out of pocket maximums of $9,900 to $10,600, so a $0 deductible does not mean a small bill.

Every Davidson price on this page is before subsidies, and most enrollees pay less. For a 40 year old in Davidson the premium tax credit is measured against the $752 benchmark. Estimate your own subsidy, or send me your ZIP and I will run the Davidson numbers for you.
