Health insurance plans in Marion County, Florida (2026)

I pulled every 2026 marketplace plan sold in Marion County, Florida out of the official CMS plan file. There are 173 plans from seven carriers, and a 40 year old in Marion pays $693 a month at full price for the benchmark silver plan. That puts Marion in the middle of the 20 Florida counties I track, with 13 cheaper and 6 pricier. Across all 79 counties and parishes I track in 24 states, 17 have a higher benchmark. Below are the carriers, the plan counts, the full prices before subsidy, and what I think the numbers mean if you live in Ocala, Belleview, Dunnellon, Silver Springs Shores or anywhere else in the county.

Who sells marketplace plans in Marion County

Seven companies sell in Marion, against ten in the busiest Florida county I track and four in the thinnest. Florida Blue alone accounts for 72 of the 173 plans in Marion, 42 percent of the shelf, so a lot of what you see when you shop is one company's lineup in different metal levels.

What it costs in Marion County before any subsidy

These are the full monthly prices, before any premium tax credit, for the cheapest Marion plan at each metal level. I show the sticker price because it is what your subsidy is subtracted from, and most people who enroll in Marion pay less, often a lot less.

What these numbers mean if you live in Marion County

The gold row is the surprise in Marion County. The cheapest gold plan for a 40 year old, $640 a month, is $16 cheaper than the cheapest silver plan at $656. That happens because Florida carriers load the cost of the extra silver discounts into silver premiums. If your income is too high for those discounts, silver is the worst value on the Marion shelf, and a gold deductible here tops out at $3,000.

In Marion County the benchmark is $179 above the cheapest bronze at age 40, and 36 of the other 78 counties and parishes I track have a narrower one. That gap decides whether bronze can be free, because your subsidy is the $693 benchmark minus what the government expects you to pay from your income. A 40 year old in Marion whose expected share is $179 a month or less would pay nothing for the cheapest bronze. At 60 the Marion gap grows to $380 and at 21 it shrinks to $140, which is why older enrollees are the ones most likely to find a $0 plan.

Compared with nearby Lake County, the Marion benchmark is $30 higher at 40 and the cheapest bronze is $20 higher. AmeriHealth Caritas Next and Cigna sell in Lake County and not in Marion.

By network type the 173 Marion plans break down as 126 HMO, 19 EPO, 14 POS and 14 PPO. Only 14 are PPOs, and every one of them comes from Florida Blue. If seeing specialists without a referral matters to you, that narrows the Marion shelf to one company. 34 plans in Marion have a $0 medical deductible (16 expanded bronze, 11 platinum and 7 gold). The 16 bronze ones among them still have out of pocket maximums of $9,900 to $10,600, so a $0 deductible does not mean a small bill.

Every Marion price on this page is before subsidies, and most enrollees pay less. For a 40 year old in Marion the premium tax credit is measured against the $693 benchmark. Estimate your own subsidy, or send me your ZIP and I will run the Marion numbers for you.
