Health insurance plans in Tarrant County, Texas (2026)

I pulled every 2026 marketplace plan sold in Tarrant County, Texas out of the official CMS plan file. There are 128 plans from eight carriers, and a 40 year old in Tarrant pays $692 a month at full price for the benchmark silver plan. Only two of the other 14 Texas counties I track have a higher one. Across all 79 counties and parishes I track in 24 states, 18 have a higher benchmark. Cigna also sells in Tarrant now and is leaving for 2027, so some of your neighbors have to switch plans this fall. Below are the carriers, the plan counts, the full prices before subsidy, and what I think the numbers mean if you live in Fort Worth, Arlington, Mansfield, Grapevine or anywhere else in the county.

Who sells marketplace plans in Tarrant County

Eight companies sell in Tarrant, against nine in the busiest Texas county I track and four in the thinnest. No single company dominates Tarrant County, where the largest lineup is 23 plans (Oscar) and the smallest is 7 (Imperial Insurance Companies).

Leaving Tarrant County for 2027

Cigna sells 11 of the 128 plans in Tarrant County this year. Cigna is leaving the ACA individual market in every state where it sells, on and off exchange, for 2027. After that exit, seven carriers are left from the 2026 Tarrant lineup: Oscar, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, Wellpoint, Ambetter from Superior HealthPlan, UnitedHealthcare, Molina Healthcare and Imperial Insurance Companies. If you are enrolled with Cigna in Tarrant, you will get a notice this fall. If you do nothing you are moved to a replacement plan picked on price and metal level, and nothing in that process checks your doctors or prescriptions.

What it costs in Tarrant County before any subsidy

These are the full monthly prices, before any premium tax credit, for the cheapest Tarrant plan at each metal level. I show the sticker price because it is what your subsidy is subtracted from, and most people who enroll in Tarrant pay less, often a lot less.

Monthly premium, full priceAge 21Age 40Age 60Couple, both 40Couple 40 + 2 kids
Lowest bronze$352$450$956$901$1,440
Lowest silver$539$688$1,462$1,377$2,201
Benchmark silver (second lowest)$541$692$1,469$1,384$2,212
Lowest gold$489$625$1,327$1,250$1,998

Benchmark silver is the second lowest of the 49 silver premiums listed for Tarrant. The last column is two adults aged 40 plus two children.

What these numbers mean if you live in Tarrant County

The gold row is the surprise in Tarrant County. The cheapest gold plan for a 40 year old, $625 a month, is $64 cheaper than the cheapest silver plan at $688. That happens because Texas carriers load the cost of the extra silver discounts into silver premiums. If your income is too high for those discounts, silver is the worst value on the Tarrant shelf, and a gold deductible here tops out at $3,300.

In Tarrant County the benchmark is $242 above the cheapest bronze at age 40, and only twelve of the other 78 counties and parishes I track have a wider one. That gap decides whether bronze can be free, because your subsidy is the $692 benchmark minus what the government expects you to pay from your income. A 40 year old in Tarrant whose expected share is $242 a month or less would pay nothing for the cheapest bronze. At 60 the Tarrant gap grows to $513 and at 21 it shrinks to $189, which is why older enrollees are the ones most likely to find a $0 plan.

Tarrant County and Denton County share Rating Area 25, so the same plan costs the same in both, and the Tarrant cheapest bronze and benchmark match Denton exactly. What differs is the menu, 128 plans in Tarrant against 117 in Denton. Cigna sells in Tarrant but not in Denton.

There is not a single PPO on the 2026 marketplace in Tarrant County. The 128 plans split into 86 HMO, 24 EPO and 18 POS. Outside emergencies, the 24 EPO and 86 HMO plans in Tarrant generally pay nothing out of network, so the network list matters more than the premium. 6 plans in Tarrant have a $0 medical deductible (3 gold, 2 expanded bronze and 1 silver). The 2 bronze ones among them still have out of pocket maximums of $10,150 to $10,600, so a $0 deductible does not mean a small bill.

Every Tarrant price on this page is before subsidies, and most enrollees pay less. For a 40 year old in Tarrant the premium tax credit is measured against the $692 benchmark. Estimate your own subsidy, or send me your ZIP and I will run the Tarrant numbers for you.
