Tampa Bay · Local Broker

Your Tampa Bay health insurance broker

I'm a licensed independent health insurance broker with an office on East Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa, serving Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Bradenton, and all of Tampa Bay. I compare every plan you qualify for, explain the trade-offs in plain English, and help you enroll. It costs you nothing.

Why this matters in Florida: Florida leads the nation in ACA marketplace enrollment. About 4.54 million Floridians enrolled in a marketplace plan for 2026, close to one in five marketplace enrollees in the entire country, and more than 95 percent of them qualified for a premium subsidy. Those subsidies averaged roughly $740 a month, which left the typical subsidy eligible Florida enrollee paying about $62 a month. Most people I meet in Tampa Bay are paying more than they need to, or missing a subsidy they qualify for.

Areas I serve in person and by phone

Most of my work happens over a quick phone call, so wherever you are in Tampa Bay, or anywhere in the 31 states I'm licensed in, the process is the same. Tell me your ZIP code and who needs coverage, and I'll come back with real numbers.

My office is at 5701 E Hillsborough Ave, Tampa, FL 33610, and phone appointments cover everywhere else.

What a local broker does for you

Health insurance in the Tampa Bay market changes every year. Carriers enter and leave, networks shift, and subsidy rules move with your income. I stay on top of it so you don't have to. When you ask me for a quote, I compare ACA marketplace plans with your subsidy applied and private plans where they make sense, side by side. You pick, I handle the enrollment, and I stay your point of contact for claims questions, renewals, and life changes.

What it costs

Nothing, ever. Brokers are paid by the insurance carriers, and a plan's price is identical whether you enroll through me or on your own. The difference is that you get a licensed professional, rated 5.0 on Google by my clients, comparing the whole market for you.

Who I help most

Individuals and families buying their own coverage, self-employed people and 1099 contractors, people between jobs who just lost employer coverage, and early retirees bridging the gap to Medicare. If that's you, the first conversation usually takes about ten minutes.

What is changing for 2027, and why Tampa Bay should care

Cigna is exiting the ACA individual market entirely for 2027, in all eleven states where it sells, and Florida is one of them. Roughly 369,000 Cigna members nationally have to choose a different plan, and because Florida carries more marketplace enrollees than any other state, a large share of those people are here.

If you get a non renewal letter this autumn, your coverage does not stop early. It runs through December 31, 2026. What does happen is that the marketplace automatically moves you into a plan it considers comparable, matched on metal level and price band. That process does not check whether your doctors are in the new network, whether your prescriptions are covered, or whether a different plan would cost you less once your subsidy is recalculated. Being auto enrolled is not the same as being taken care of.

I wrote a fuller explanation of what the letter means and what to do about it here: your carrier is leaving Florida in 2027.

How working with me actually goes

  1. Tell me your ZIP code and who needs coverage

That is genuinely the starting point. Ages and household size determine what you qualify for, and your ZIP determines which carriers and networks are even available to you in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Manatee or Sarasota county.

  2. I compare the whole market, not one carrier

ACA marketplace plans with your subsidy already applied, alongside private plans where they make sense, side by side. I check your doctors against each network and your prescriptions against each formulary before recommending anything.

  3. We talk through the real cost, not the sticker price

The cheapest premium is frequently the most expensive plan for someone who actually sees a doctor. Premium plus deductible plus what you realistically expect to use is the number that matters.

  4. I handle the enrollment and stay your contact

Claims questions, renewals, a new job, a new baby, a move. You call me, not a call centre queue.

Common questions from Tampa Bay

Is there an independent health insurance broker serving Tampa Bay?

Yes. I am a licensed independent broker with an office on East Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa, and I work across Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Bradenton, Sarasota and the surrounding communities. Independent means I am not tied to a single insurance company, so I compare what is actually available to you rather than selling one company's products. My Florida licence is G235543 and my National Producer Number is 21581721, and both are verifiable publicly.

How much does a health insurance broker cost in Tampa?

Nothing. Brokers are paid by the insurance carriers, and the premium is identical whether you enroll through me, through HealthCare.gov on your own, or directly with the carrier. There is no fee, no markup and no version of the plan that costs more because you used a broker. If anyone asks you to pay a fee to enroll in an individual marketplace plan, that is worth questioning.

Do Tampa Bay residents qualify for health insurance subsidies?

Most do. More than 95 percent of Florida marketplace enrollees qualified for a premium subsidy for 2026, averaging about $740 a month. Eligibility is based on your estimated household income for the year ahead, not last year's, which is why estimating it correctly matters so much. If your income changed, your subsidy changes with it, and that often moves your real cost more than the plan choice does.

When can I enroll?

Open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs from November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027, and December 15, 2026 is the deadline to pick a plan that starts January 1. Outside that window you need a qualifying life event, such as losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby, or aging off a parent's plan, which typically opens a 60 day special enrollment period.
